Promoting the rights of people with psychosocial disability in development research and programming

The aim of this paper is to examine factors which influence the inclusion of people with psychosocial disability in development and promote understanding as to why and how development actors can improve inclusion. This paper draws on available English-language literature on the inclusion of people with psychosocial disability in development programs, as well as preliminary experiences drawn from the W-DARE project (Women with Disability taking Action on Reproductive and sexual health) project. This is supplemented with examples from individuals and organizations with experience in psychosocial disability and/or development.
