Japan: Landslides in Hiroshima

In Japan, the torrential rain in Hiroshima prefecture on August 20 resulted in flash flooding and landslides More than 168, 000 people living in the affected area have been advised to evacuate to safer ground. At least 39 people have been confirmed dead and 51 people are missing. Japanese Red Cross Society (JRCS) immediately responds to disaster by mobilizing relief items and deploying medical team to the affected area. IFRC Asia Pacific Zone Office is monitoring the disaster closely and maintaining close communication with JRCS.
