The five papers in this Special Section inform our knowledge extensively on: the heterogeneous impact of having been a child soldier on children’s wellbeing; the importance of considering the specific context in which recruitment and conscription of children happens; and the need to explicitly locate rehabilitation and reintegration processes into the social fabric.
