Humanitarian Bulletin Philippines Issue no. 9 (September 1-30, 2016)
Highlights:
1. Three years after the Zamboanga conflict, over 12,800 persons remain displaced in Zamboanga City waiting for permanent housing and sustainable livelihoods. Home-based IDPs in Zamboanga City were surveyed in July 2016 to help the government track and assist displaced families.
2. UN-led Country Task Force on Monitoring and Reporting, together with government and NGO partners, verify grave child rights violations in armed conflict in Northern Mindanao.
3. A rapid damage assessment in Maguindanao by the ARMM Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council and Mindanao Humanitarian Team highlights need for WASH facilities, medicine and food assistance.
4. Humanitarian agencies are taking positive steps towards securing equal rights for the LGBT community in the Philippines.
