Extensive field-based experience as well as working at various managerial and technical lead levels ranging from the capacity of university lecturer, Head of Psychiatry department at Dilla University, National MHPSS Specialist in IMC-Ethiopia, working in providing direct support to refugees as Senior MHPSS Officer in Dolo Ado and Gambella refugee camps, IDPs and host communities in Ethiopia: Northern Ethiopia conflict response.
I gained established skills, knowledge, and experience to manage projects from inception to completion in mental health and psychosocial support programming. In-depth theoretical and practical knowledge of IASC Mental Health and Psychosocial Support in Emergency Settings guidelines and associated products (e.g., IASC Assessment toolkit, the 4Ws mapping tool, M&E framework, and the Health, Protection, and CCCM booklets)
I have demonstrated leadership capacity in program management including strategic development, program design, coordination, program quality, leading research, reporting, and monitoring of MHPSS interventions. Moreover, am experienced in people management with good capacity in team building and coordination of big consortium.
Additional trainings I attended on MHPSS along with different workshops, Seminars and coordination meetings include ToT on mhGAP-HIG and IG, Strategic planning, leadership, and coordination of MHPSS in complex emergencies training by Dr. Fahmy of WHO, MHPSS in complex emergencies provided by Fordham University, Mental health case management, basic counseling skills, MHPSS Strategic planning, Coordination and leader, Interpersonal therapy for groups (IPT-G), ToT on Basic PSS skills and PFA, MEAL and other relevant trainings. These all helped me to increase my confidence and ability that one can benefit from.
