Humanitarian emergencies constitute a significant challenge to health services in general and mental health services specifically. Monitoring and evaluation of mental health and psychosocial programs in emergencies is an integral component that promotes quality, and strengthens the response to mental health and psychosocial needs of affected communities.mhpss.net through the webinar ‘Monitoring and Evaluation of Mental health and Psychosocial Programs in Middle East’ is trying to explore the various aspects of monitoring and evaluation of MHPSS programs, with special reference to the new M&E framework drafted by IASC reference group. Special attention will be paid to challenges faced in Middle East, and practical examples from the field.

The webinar will include presentations by Dr. Mohamed Elshazly (UNHCR), and Ibrahim Abou Khalil (IMC). The webinar will be moderated by Dr. Fuad Almosa (AID organization).

Our Presenters :

mohamed-bio-picDr. Mohamed Elshazly, currently working in Kurdistan Region of Iraq as Mental Health and Psychosocial Support officer with United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. Dr. Elshazly is a psychiatrist from Egypt with more than a decade of experience in clinical work, training, and psychosocial support programs in emergencies, and humanitarian response in Middle East.

ibrahim-bio-icMr. Ibrahim Abou Khalil , Currently working as mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) director with the International Medical Corps in Iraq. Ibrahim is a family and systemic therapist with more than five years of clinical experience. In addition, he has worked on MHPSS, dialogue, training and youth programs for more than fifteen years in the Middle East, north and west Africa.

Our Moderator:

fouad-bio-picDr. Fuad Almossa, a Syrian psychiarist , Currently working as MHPSS coordinator with AID (Association for Integration and Development ) Turkey; and working as clinical supervisor for trained mhGAP doctors with WHO – Gaziantep office . Dr. Almossa has more than eight years of experience in clinical mental health services, training and MHPSS services in emergencies, and worked with many INGOs in Yemen (2007) and KSA (2009). His academic credentials include, Msc in Psychiary and PHD ( suffeciency stage ) in neurophysiology from Gaziantep University, Turkey.
